We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevante and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trevante, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
That’s such an important question to ask . I believe if something is for you it will show up in your life multiple times. For instance, in the film/ television industry it can be very hard to break through in it but when you have the talent and you have the skill set and the connections and you constantly work on your craft. Opportunity presents itself and the world show you that you are suppose to do what you are doing. It’s hard and it’s easy to get frustrated and to give up but why do that. That is why it’s important to figure what you love to do and simply do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So with my art. I enjoy writing scripts, writing music and just creating content that allows people to think. What sets me apart is I enjoy simple things like walking in parks, going to coffee shops, talking with friends. I am inspired by everyday people and I use that to develop characters in my work. I observe everything and that helps me visualize stories to tell. Professionally, I started working in the industry through my college professor at Albany State University in 2021. I was referred to a television producer and I did my first gig working on a project at the Georgia Public Broadcasting studios in March. There I connected with my friend and started booking gigs on my own since. I then started to invest in my craft by taking acting classes and doing acting workshops with ActingOut studios and Nick CONTI. And I recently did an adult boot camp for singers, actors and dancers with AGI ENTERTAINMENT. I met some dope people there. None of this has been easy. I faced so many challenges including financial hardships, not a lot of connections and in this business connections are everything. I’ve learned a lot as well. You can dream all day but if you do not take action behind your dreams they will stay dreams. What I want the world to know about me is that I came from the struggle, single parents household, I am a first generation college graduate from an HBCU. I have a great heart and I care for others. I have so much to give and I want to inspire and change lives with my art, my music and my storytelling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still new in the Atlanta area but I can list some spots I’ve enjoyed only because of my close friend MAR. For a week long trip and Atlanta: I would definitely go to this bar called Revery for a late night hang out spot. They have great drinks and music and it’s a nice visual place aesthetically. For food I enjoy this place called Vortex they have great burgers and it’s just a nice vibe. For great sunsets, I love driving out to Kennesaw to see the sunset and watch the sky. The Botanical gardens are great to see during the day or night during fall and Christmas. Any coffee that is in the city is up my ally. I’m very simple I enjoy the treasures that god gives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, first and foremost I have to say thank you to GOD. That’s first. I dreamed about being an artist, being a performer, creating projects and I have experienced so much since I moved out of my hometown of Albany, Georgia. I want to shoutout my city, known as the “Good Life, City”, Albany. That city changed me and made me. I always wanted to be in the entertainment industry, even as a kid I would sing around the house. In high school, I dived into acting and singing and even creating music with my friends Chris and Drako. Shoutouts to them boys. My family, my mama, my brothers and my sister. My Bestfriend who is having a baby next month in October. And all of my teachers and professors who have helped me along the way. Specifically Ms. Burke and Dr. Ricks! And last but not least my person I call MAR. I love you for inspiring everyday to write about what is going on in my life. Moving to Atlanta has been a life changing experience and I have met so many people. Shoutouts to AGI Entertainment I did a boot camp this summer with them and received so many jewels.
