We had the good fortune of connecting with Kia Henley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
It is very challenging to attribute my success and the success of my brand (KChanel Styles – an online swimsuit boutique) to a singular factor, as I am a firm believer that my success is a derivative of a plethora of factors.

However, if I had to pinpoint the most important factor behind my success and my brand’s success it would be my commitment to quality. My commitment to quality is a core value that I live by personally and is therefore imperative regarding the products that make up my brand. My customers are an essential part of what makes my business tick. They’re the lifeline of my business. Customers have consistently referred my brand to their friends. It’s great to be a referral-based business. I feel like that is a success in my brand. I have built the most amazing relationships with my patrons as well as my vendors over the last year, as I curate products to support women in escaping social norms to be skinny but instead feel good in their own skin no matter how thin or curvy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an owner of a Swimfit boutique, I am most proud of the relationships that I’ve built with my patrons. While selling swimsuits may not sound impactful, I have been very instrumental and have established a permanent seat at the the table of promoting body positivity and confidence for ALL women with my brand.

Focusing on listening to feedback from my customers has had a major impact on everything from increasing customer engagement, improving my understanding of customers, and refining the selection and design of my swimsuits. It is extremely important to take my customers’ opinions into account, especially since I am creating and curating swimsuits that will encourage women to love their skin and feel confident regardless of weight gain, cellulite or stretch marks.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whether you have a few hours or days, there are a few must-see, must-do venues and restaurants to visit in Atlanta. There is a trendsetting culture and mouth-watering dining to keep you wanting more.

The Garden Room is first on my roster for dining: This immersive garden bar and dining experience is what dreams are made of. The Garden Room is a chic restaurant located in the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta. The most stunning plant-filled space with a beautiful glass roof. Every corner, every small plate bite is breathtaking.

Another favorite restaurant that I would
recommend is Le Colonial. The decor and the ambiance at Le Colonial is outstanding. The lights, architecture, pictures and high ceilings, reminded me of architecture that I’ve seen in my travels. The food is delectable and the service is phenomenal.

Fade & Facet ATL is another restaurant that I would recommend for dining. I’ve visited this restaurant just about every week since the grand opening & every time has been nothing short of amazing. The food is consistently delicious & the vibes are unmatched. I recommend this restaurant without reservation.

As an avid sports fan, I highly recommend all of Atlanta’s Sports Venues; from charging up at the battery, when the reigning World Series Champions – the Atlanta Braves play at home, taking an outing to Truist Park for a lively game-day atmosphere is a must do experience. Aside from the game, the Battery Atlanta boasts a plethora of restaurants, bars, shops or catching a concert at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, a cozy venue that I absolutely adore. In addition, visiting the most spectacular NBA arena in the league is a must. State Farm Arena is home to the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) and some of the city’s hottest concerts year-round. Last but not least, I would definitely ensure that I scored additional tickets for my guests to attend an Atlanta Falcons (NFL) game, Atlanta United FC (MLS) soccer match or a high-energy concert at the most stellar stadium the (Mercedes-Benz Stadium).
The final spot that is a must see while visiting Atlanta is the High Museum of Art. The High is home to thousands of artwork inclusive of 19th century art as well as a growing collection of contemporary art. I would definitely take my guest to view the permanent collections, special exhibits and events at the High Museum of Art.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Friends, family, colleagues and Social Media followers! Without them, it would be impossible to be found in such a vast sea of swimwear brands. The aforementioned groups support KChanel Styles social media platforms via likes, comments and sharing content. My business partner serves as my Entrepreneurial expert and has supported the brand while it was merely an idea in my notes app. My mentor and colleagues are phenomenal and provide support via new opportunities such as invitations to pop-up events that provide access not only for reaching new customers but for expanding my brand’s network.
