We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The risk vs reward theory states that the higher the risk, the higher the potential return. Conversely, the lower the risk, the lower the potential return. Taking risks can be scary and nerve wrecking. I am not sure that there is any human on earth that is completely okay with uncertainty in every aspect of life. When it comes to business, I am a believer in taking calculated risk vs foolish risk. Foolish risk could bring about positive returns but you go into it completely blind. Calculated risk involves a fair amount of due diligence. You’ll never know results with 100% accuracy. What due diligence does is help me to discover the indicators that will help me to believe the particular action is going to go positively.
I would not be where I am today in my business without taking calculated risk. I am an international speaker because I took the risk to travel to Africa, on my own, to speak at a women’s international summit. At the time (5 years ago), some people around me thought I was crazy. They thought I wasn’t being safe. I did a fair amount of research on the organization to include requesting their business registration with their country, reaching out to other Americans and Europeans who had spoken for them before, and more. Had I listened to the “peanut gallery”, I would not be an international speaker today. I have traveled overseas to speak several times. During the pandemic, I spoke virtually at international events. I am consistently receiving invitations to come speak and/or bring my mission team.
Taking calculated risk has helped me to continue walking out my purpose in every area of my life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Money Mastery 4 Her Enterprises exists to change the face of wealth for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom. While we help everyone who desires to succeed in their finances, our target is primarily women entrepreneurs of color and faith. We specialize in providing an overall financial strategy to ensure your income is properly protected in your early years and you don’t run out of money in your later years. My business provides an array of financial products such as life insurance, investments, education savings plans, debt elimination, and so much more. I am a naturally and spiritually gifted teacher. What sets my brand apart from others is that we make the Kingdom principles of wealth management easy to understand and implement. They are presented in a way that inspires and transforms.
We not only assist women of color in becoming successful money masters, we also provide independent contractor opportunities. These independent contractor positions allow for closing the pay gap and realizing their financial goals and dreams. I am proud to say that we have a presence in 8 states and growing.
We have a Multi media arm. It is for the books I write and our Smart TV Network: LEX-Z TV where we provide a platform for emerging podcasts and shows with content in any of the nine areas of human activity. We are partnered with Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV, and Google TV to present their content on smart TVs worldwide.
I am grateful for all of this but the most rewarding part of our brand is the missions arm. This past July, I took a team of 14 missionaries to Ghana We served approximately 5000 women and youth through the My Period Campaign, the Breaking Family Limitations Youth Summit, and the Becoming a Woman of Substance women’s conference. We also sponsored a children’s dance competition and were able to preach 3-4 churches while we were there.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend is coming with a child or children, LEGOLAND is the first stop. Get the children’s things done first. Then we can do what we want…. lol. Tuesday would be the PATH400 Greenway. I love walking, nature, trails, etc and so does my bestfriend.
Wednesday – shopping. I’m not a shopper but my bestfriend may want to. We’d hit up Lenox Square.
Thursday – Peachtree Road Farmers Market (we’re into healthy food)
Friday -Chastain Park (good for the whole family)
On one of these evenings we are definitely checking out some comedy. Which comedy club would depend on whose headlining.
As far as eating – a tour of vegetarian and or vegan restaurants (Grass VBQ Joint, Soul Vegetarian, Slutty Vegan, and other black owned establishments)
