We had the good fortune of connecting with Israel Beard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Israel, what’s your definition for success?
For me, success is synonymous with completion. In the past, I had a cycle of starting projects or endeavors that were incomplete or I didn’t see through to the end. This pattern continued throughout my life until 2015 when I decided to pursue a license in cosmetology. The courage for me to go for it came from God. With Him all things are possible, so I was determined to final finish something I started. That is why completion equals success for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m in my second year of entrepreneurship and there has been many valuable lessons. I’ve learned that business is in fact personable. More than commerce and exchange. It’s rapport, community, trust, and growth.

Going into business for myself was easy in the respect of processing paperwork. However, the mental and emotional part was hard. I decided to open in the height of the COVID pandemic, as businesses around me were closing down. There were fears and tears, but I decided to trust God and step out on faith. That faith has proven to be a fail safe.

What sets me apart from other businesses is more than just my name. It’s my dedication to my clients, their families, well-being, and inspiring them to go after their passions and look good in pursuit! Hair changes moods, outlooks, perspective, and esteem. I’m grateful to be in service of that. I’m blessed to do what I love everyday.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, God is the embodiment of support, success, love, and encouragement for me.

My husband Robert has been a rock and supportive when I doubted my abilities to be an entrepreneur. To include when finances were a little shaky.

Rae Lee has been a great mentor in all things business. She comes with hard words and soft love, and it works.

Kim Cutter-Williams, former Program Director at Savannah Technical College. She taught me what it means to be a professional in this industry.

Last but not least, all my clients. Without them, my creativity, passion, and joy would go unfulfilled.
