We had the good fortune of connecting with Dennis F. London and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dennis F., how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
The balance has definitely changed over time. I’m a firm believer in always making time for what counts but I promise it just ain’t enough hours in a day. A large amount of my day is going towards editing photos/ videos or shooting clients. Not to mention it’s just me working on most of my shoots so a lot of the responsibilities most don’t think about fall on me. Having to constantly be on the go makes it difficult to have the quality time I’d want with friends and family but for the most part everyone with bills know what it is so I’m grateful for that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t have a concrete formula down for my pics…. Yet! But in all honesty there’s a split between the people who see and enjoy my work. You’re either a fan of black women or a fan of an artist I shot that simple. I been very self conscious about my content for a while only because I do and want way more for my photos I would much rather transition into fashion (which is a whole other evil itself) what makes it hard is the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know shit. Most fashion campaigns have a whole production team but I make due. Getting booked by different rappers while trying to perfect a new style is hard but baby steps I guess.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from Detroit I will only be giving Detroit references because only thing I remember from ATL was Stone Mountain and I got lost up there at night during a clan meeting so best to hit that in the day time unless you into that.

But!! If anyone visits Detroit im taking them to either Jamaica Jamaica or Yum Village to spice up they life

Second we bar hopping our way through downtown n make our way to the Z lot cause it’s bound to be music or some type of entertainment that way

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off I wouldn’t have taken this career serious if it wasn’t for my HS teacher Peg Pasternak. She gave me my first camera and told me to be great so I plan to do just that.

I couldn’t do half the shit I do without my boy Super Flamee. We been tight for years and always stayed on the mission. Super is a designer so naturally we went hand in hand when it came to our art.

Last but not least my mentor BeElBe a Detroit legend. He gave me the game as far as how to operate in the industry and how to conduct myself on set. He reminds me everyday how nothings impossible and to never limit my imagination for that I’m beyond thankful
