We had the good fortune of connecting with India Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi India, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Time management and balance go hand in hand. With me being a chef, it is a non-stop around the clock job. Some catering events require me and my staff up and working at 3/4am with the day ending at 1-2am, so balancing your schedule and day’s are paramount to the success you want your business to have. With me being a business owner i have sacrificed my weekends to work and cater to other’s events and festivities. At first i was sad like dang I really work Friday-Sunday non stop but the reward on Sunday night knowing me and my team have executed every vision our clients throw at us is amazing and i wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The growth of my business definitely didn’t happen over night. I was a young 20yr old college student cooking to save money and from there I started recording everything I made. The powerful of social media is unbelievable! Now that i look back at the 2017-2018 files of me cooking im like who the heck thought that looked good, but that’s the beautiful thing about your journey. You have to start somewhere and let your work and talents speak for itself. As i grew as a business owner, so did my work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Shops of Buckhead, one of my favorite restaurants is located right in the middle called Le Bilboquet. Its a upscale French restaurant and the food and drinks are amazing! Next we would head across the street to Sol Spa, I get their 60min back massage…so peaceful! And end the night at a nice bar for drinks. A Perfect ChefIndiaFiasco Day!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My journey started with my drive to cook of course but also with the help and knowledge my mentor gave me Chef Jessie McNair at Clarkston Highschool ! With his teaching skills and patience I was able to develop and grow my business more than I could’ve ever saw with my own two eyes. I definitely have the upmost respect for him and his business!
