We had the good fortune of connecting with Roger Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roger, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
There are many traits that successful people develop over time and my ability to stay focused on different tasks and prioritize my efforts have helped me. There are whiteboards everywhere in the office and I write ideas on all of them. I walk around the office reading my notes.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the C.O.O. of Erosion Management Services. We provide comprehensive job site services for residential and commercial customers, including installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls.
It turns out that IT Sales teaches you to look for solutions to challenges many businesses face. Solving business puzzles are easy for me. When I started at Erosion Management Services the challenge was getting buy-in from the end users. Company culture and the way people resist change are a big hurdle for some organizations. I started by making changes that saved time and made it easier for people to do their jobs. I still get some resistance but I always assure the team that it will help in the long run.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! Atlanta has a rich history and is home to many attractions. I would say that dinner at South City Kitchen and a show at The Fox are hard to beat. South City Kitchen takes classic southern dishes and modernizes them. The Fox Theater is like a trip to another time. Your guest would surely see where this city has been and where it is heading.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Whether it was by design or not, I would say that my parents are responsible for my sense of adventure. We moved from city to city when I was a kid because of my father’s career path. In each new town my sister, brother, and I had to make new friends and learn new places. I developed self-confidence at an early age, allowing me to try things I may not have.
