Meet Tyree Morrow | Animator, Karate Instructor & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyree Morrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyree, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be like my grandfather. He started his own business and raised 15 kids with my grandmother. He and my aunts and uncles have all started their own business. I’ve always thought that it was in my blood to work for myself. In college is when it hit me to start an animation studio. I was listening to Ralph Bakshi in a interview on a panel he did and he said ” you guys don’t have to go and work at a big studio to be an animator. There are enough people in this room to start one. Me and a few friends made Fritz the cat in a garage. Just a few of us. ” When I heard that, it lit a fire in me to pursue my passion even more. So I met up with a few of my friends that are now my business partners and we now have Creative Overdose Studios.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think we’re different from other studios is that we build relationships and keep our clients involved in the projects we take on. We make it fun! Starting your own business is never easy. There were many bumps along the way and failures. We learned from those failures and kept pushing forward. I think that’s the most important thing. Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t let it stop you from doing what you love. I’m excited for the future of Creative Overdose what my team and I will accomplish. There’s no limit to what we can do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to Battle n Brew for some gaming and drinks. We geek hard here! Then get some Ramen from Jinya. Both in Sandy Springs. Then just hangout in midtown on the beltline and hit up Ponce City Market. But the main event we would hit up would be Controllerise! Nothing but live music, anime, art, and games. Just a whole vibe. But…..Pandemic so.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! I’d like to thank my three children Tyante, Tyla, and Tiamayah. I do art for them. My business partners Lakeeta Wilson, Jason Lopez, and Stephanie Lopez. Richard Chapman for letting me know I can do whatever I put my mind to. I’d also like to thank Tony Rodrigues for helping me shift my mindset and helping me find my why. My brother Alex, my mother Janice and my father Steve for support as well as many others. I appreciate you all.
