We had the good fortune of connecting with Ingrid Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ingrid, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Growing up, I didn’t take many risks. As the oldest of four, I carried a sense of responsibility that kept me in a “safe” lane. As a single mom, I’m fearless! I take risks often when it comes to building a better life for myself and my son.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded my coaching practice, Ingridients for Life, just last year. After a career in education and corporate training, I wanted to utilize my skills and personality with a more intimate approach. Getting to this point has not been easy. Many personal trials, including my son’s autism diagnosis, proved challenging throughout my journey. I learned to be very intentional about my moves, and patient with the process. I also learned that there are some things God has you to go through alone to show you your strength. My goal now is to help other autism parents navigate their child’s diagnosis and development by creating a personalized system of success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a bit of a homebody, so I don’t go out much. Most of my outings are kid-friendly spots and events. My friends have kids, so the first place I would take them is KidZania USA. It’s an educational theme park designed like a small city. Kids get to learn about different careers by actually working in the businesses located within the city. It’s a big deal worldwide and the only location in the United States. I wouldn’t dare let them visit without taking them on a food and history tour throughout Dallas with Soul of DFW Tours. There’s also iFLY indoor skydiving in case we want to be adventurous. For the most part, any visit would consist of eating out at my favorite local restaurants, visiting historical landmarks within the area, and shopping!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my entire family. Through all the ups and downs, my family has always been my motivation to work hard towards all my goals. And to my son, “the best thing I never knew I needed,” I give the highest recognition for helping to shape me into the mother and woman I am today.
