We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Callaway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
This is a hard question for me because I have two. My first one the author is unknown:
“One hundred years from now, it will not matter what sort of house that I lived in, the size of my bank account, or the type of car that I drove. But the world will be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
I love children! While I don’t have any of my own, I have been blessed to be able to pour into the lives of other people’s children for more than three decades, a responsibility I don’t take for granted. As a gymnastics coach, I have been able to help children develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Just as gymnastics was for me, I have been able to use it to allow me to help children to develop the life skills they will use as adults.
My second one is a Zig Ziglar quote:
“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”
I thoroughly enjoy being a conduit whereby I am able to share my knowledge, contacts, and influence with others to help them to get to where they desire to be in life. I truly believe in the spirit of “each one, teach one” and “each one, help one.” It’s how I was raised by my parents and it’s who I am. I am my happiest when I am helping others succeed.
What I like about both of these quotes is they are outward focused. My mantra is to teach, inspire, and encourage others. I always want to see others winning and being their best selves. Whatever I can do to help them to become that in their own lives, I want to do my part.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
How do you respond when asked, “Who are you?”
My answer sounds something like, “Hi, my name is Christina Callaway. I am a Certified Mindset and Confidence Coach and the owner of Christina Callaway Life Coaching, LLC. I received my BA degree in Leadership Studies with a dual concentration in Human Behavior and Organizational development from Piedmont College.” However, this is what I do. It is not who I am.
As a Certified Mindset and Confidence Coach. I serve athletes, parents, coaches and organizations helping them to gain the confidence they need to reach their goals.
I have been attached to athletics all my life. First as a gymnast and then as gymnastics coach. I understand the importance of being confident and having a positive mindset, but I also understand that it doesn’t always come easy. When you’re standing at the edge of a mat before a routine, or just on the outside of an office before a bit big presentation, the butterflies start swirling and the negative self-talk begins. This is the space where costly mistakes can occur. As a Confidence Coach, I’m here to fix that.
“Confidence is a language I’ve always understood, but it wasn’t until divorce shook the world around me, that I came to fully under stand its power.” Five years later, in 2015, Christina Callaway Life Coaching, LLC was born. I now partner with individuals who want to feel more confident in their own abilities.
My experiences, lessons and training have all come together to help those with whom I partner. Our stories are full of teachable moments. From our triumphs to our perceived failures, our lives hold the secrets to the confidence we desire.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun, yet interesting question for me. I am typically what most people would coin an Ambivert, a term used to describe an individual whose personality is a balance between extrovert and introvert tendencies. I don’t meet a stranger and I also enjoy being at home alone watching Netflix and chilling.
So, if my best friend or out of town relatives were visiting the area and I wanted to make sure they had the best time, the sports fan in me would first see if there was some type of athletic event going on or a concert. I love jazz, so anywhere we can listen to live jazz playing would definitely make the list. I love looking at art and visiting museums, so that would make the list as well. We would hike up Stone Mountain for sure to either watch the sunrise or sunset. Got to get our exercise and steps in for the day. I’m a huge volunteer. So, depending upon when they were coming into town, I would probably look to see if there is some event, either sporting or community, that I could sign up to work. Relaxing is definitely on the menu too. So scheduling an overnight visit to Chateau Elan with massages included. As far as food, well, I would leave this up to them with a few requirements, the restaurant has to be local and it must have vegan/vegetarian options. How did I do? Are you ready to hangout with me? The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dr. Maya Angelou, my favorite poet, said it best, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This quote sums up how important the people are in my life who are responsible for my success. When I start naming them, I will inevitably leave names off, and for this, I want to tell everyone that has ever crossed my path along this crazy journey of mine, I appreciate you. Your season in my life is the reason for my success and I could not have done it without you. Thank you!
