We had the good fortune of connecting with India Jonassaint and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi India, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As a wife and mother of two young children, I have a lot to manage all of the time. I struggled for the longest because I was always in search of balance for my life. My life changed when I ditched balance and started focusing more on my priorities. I realized that balance is bogus and that it was impossible for me to give equal parts of myself and time to the various responsibilities and desires I had.

I began prioritizing my life and shifting my priorities when necessary realizing that I would often endure changes and transitions and that those seasons would require an adjustment to my priorities. It’s much more freeing to consider juggling work and life in terms of priorities rather than gaining balance.

What should our readers know about your business?
The idea of Millennial Motherhood came to me years ago when I had my son. I knew that there were many young women who were just like me. We were raising children in different times, and we wanted more out of motherhood. More transparency. More support. More realness.

I wanted to create a space where other moms would feel seen, heard, and were empowered to thrive in their motherhood journeys. I do this through my podcast, The Millennial Motherhood Podcast, events (Mommy’s Time Out), and more.

The most important thing I’ve realized is that people desire authenticity. There are enough depictions of perfect motherhood, and there are women who just want to know that they’re not alone in their journey. I’m not afraid to be real and share in my success and struggles with others.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, but the community that is being created through Millennial Motherhood has been so beautiful to see. I’ve met some amazing moms and heard many stories about how good it feels to be seen through an episode of the podcast or through an event.

Millennial Motherhood exists to helps other moms find their rhythm in life and to be encouraged through whatever stage they’re in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my go to spots is Eclipse di Luna in Buckhead. I’ve been going there for years and it never disappoints for a girls night out or as I like to call it “Mommy’s Time Out”. I’m a huge foodie so I’d recommend quite a few places. Two Urban Licks is a city staple for atmosphere, Breakfast at Barney’s is a great brunch spot, and you can find pretty much anything for lunch at Ponce City Market. I enjoy walking the Beltline as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout my husband, Brenden Jonassaint. He has inspired, supported, and pushed me so much on my journey. I have no idea where I’d be without his endless support. He’s always been ready to support my dreams. I’m so grateful to him.
