Meet Sasha Mitchell | Career Advisor & Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Work Sis is the safe space often lacking in Corporate America for women. I created this platform to fill that void by helping women get clarity on their goals to thrive in the boardroom without sacrificing their unique selves.
Early in my career journey, I stumbled my way through trying to figure “it” (Corporate America) out. I thought I needed to fit the corporate mold and be something that I wasn’t. That road only led to burnout and failure. Once I tapped into what made me unique and different, I recognized that was my strength! I was becoming what I measured up as successful in my career. Today, I’m committed to helping women identify their strengths and become their best selves to thrive in corporate culture.

What should our readers know about your business?
I jokingly refer to my business, Work, Sis, as “career therapy.” It’s what sets it apart from what any resume writer or career coach does. It’s less about what’s on paper and more about a mentality shift that can change your outcome forever! There is a point in the process where my clients’ demeanor changes. It’s when they start to believe in themselves and feel empowered to go after their vision! They’re committed to taking the next step to overcome that imposter syndrome. It’s that moment that’s so beautiful to witness. It’s why I do what I do.
I got to where my business is today through consistency and discipline. I stayed committed to the vision that I had. Before officially registering my business, I had been advising and mentoring young girls and women for free for four years. Like anything else in life, it’s not easy. But I knew this was bigger than any other project I had taken on or anything else I’ve started because there was a different kind of motivation that helped me through the process. I was operating in my purpose. I believe your purpose can change over time, but the ultimate assignment will stay the same. For myself, that assignment is to lead, inspire, and encourage through my personal experiences.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the reasons I love the City of Atlanta is because there are endless things to explore! Some of my favorite restaurants we would have to check out are; Slutty Vegan (I’m a vegetarian), RReal Tacos, True Food Kitchen, Spice House, and Peach Cobbler Cafe. I love the outdoors so we would have to visit Piedmont Park, The Beltline, and the rooftops at The Bellyard and Virtue.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, shoutout to God! I don’t take my position and purpose for granted. God has truly been the foundation of my business and I just want to be obedient. I would also say that growing up I was surrounded by educators and mentors who rooted for me and supported me throughout my academic success. I want to make an impact in another woman’s life the way my mentors did. Too many to name, but they know who they are!
