We had the good fortune of connecting with Trent Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trent, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As co-owner of Equipped Community Defense Training & Tactics along with my wife Madison, we saw a need to educate people in our community in relations to firearms. The goal was not to only teach people how to use them safely but to also help them to understand the history of the 2nd amendment as it pertains to African Americans. We also understood that the world can be a dangerous place and we wanted people to take the safety of themselves and family serious as we in the black community tend to believe things can’t happen until they actually happen. That was the main goal in starting our firearms business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Assistant Fire Marshal for the City of Huntsville in Alabama in which my duties include plans review, inspections, investigations and public relations. I enjoy this position because it helps me to interact with the public and keep the public informed about fire prevention safety at work and at home. I’ve been able to take on this role with just hard work and dedication and having the go getter mentality to be the best and that has fueled me to always move forward. The drive from this job also helped be to become a firearms instructor and owner of Equipped Community Defense Training and Tactics which is our firearms business.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my wife Madison Bennett because she has always had my corner and my back. She is who I can give credit to for what I do today!
