We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucianne Rosario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucianne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After 20 years of working in the radio business, I decide to resign because I was underpaid and unappreciated as a women for what I was bringing to the table. It made me want to use the skills I had to create my own business. A business that would empower and inspire other women through fashion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was 15 years old I ran away from home, dropped out of high school and was homeless. At seventeen years old I started working at a radio station where I learned everything about the radio business. I was an on air personality and a music director. Then I worked my way to the business office where I will learn the corporate side of radio. As I got older my goals changed. Money became my motivation so, I started doing sales and marketing. It was something about walking inside the conference room of a million dollar business full of powerful people with business suits and having all ears on you.

I made a bunch of money and saved it I also went to college to learn the law and how to run a business. After 20 years of working in radio, I resigned unexpectedly. As a women in the industry, It became stressful and overbearing where it emotionally broke me down.

When I left the radio station, I started my business. I used my own money to start it. Everything I learned from social influencers were completely wrong. I made so many mistakes and at times wanted to give up. A couple months ago I was robbed of majority of my inventory that was at my headquarters. I cried like a baby but at that moment I realized the brand was bigger than me. I realized the importance of women communities and that we are stronger when we come together. When Mary Vazquez from Moda Couture Boutique reached out to support me in any way needed. She understood and felt my pain.

I want the world to know even though we go through different hardships. I want to send out an encouraging message to all the women who are on their grind. NO matter what happens find a lesson and strength from it. Nothing or no one on this earth is strong enough to bring you down. Use that pain as motivation to keep pushing through.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from a small town in Upstate New York called Rochester where we are known for having historical places such as the Susan B Anthony house and Kodak. I would start with taking a tour of all the historical places, take a wine tour at the vineyard, go to the science museum, memorial art gallery, and strong museum. Eat at the French quarter and Beer project in the suburbs. Then to 809 or Tipico for a good vibe, latin music and food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My significant other, Curtis Coke has inspired me in many ways. He encourages me to never give up and push through when it gets tough. He has stepped in when necessary even when his plate is full.
