We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Peilan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Upgrading my money mindset

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Creative Entrepreneur – I founded my own web design studio in 2020 as the pandemic hit. It was really hard at first and quite lonely because I knew very few people who had their own online business. I found it also extremely hard to ‘price my work’ because I’d mostly been employed and was still valuing my work based on per hour instead of being value-based.

The many lockdowns were the perfect excuse to really put my head down, to educate myself in the world of online business and grow my business by upgrading my mindset, investing in my business through online courses, coaches, business masterminds and outsourcing.

I learnt SO many lessons along the way and truly think that the BEST way to truly ‘know and find yourself, your strengths and weaknesses’ – then start a business. It brings everything to light and forces you to face your fears and weaknesses head on. It also forces you to VALUE your time and to VALUE YOURSELF and asks of you: “What is YOUR definition of SUCCESS?”

Sometimes it’s hard to invest in yourself or in your business BEFORE you actually HAVE the cashflow to do so. But one of the BEST things I did for my business was INVEST in education, in knowledge, in coaching and upgrading my mindset. Once you upgrade your money mindset to one of abundance, you no longer see investments as ‘costs’ but as real investments with HUGE returns. These investments are what will truly catapult your business. Invest early and your business will grow quicker.

Even though my business industry is in Branding & Website Design… my brand STORY or the HEART of my brand is all about helping people achieve FREEDOM through CREATIVITY and JOY. I help heart-led business owners to create beautifully functional websites that will save them time and allow them to scale their business with ease so they have more TIME to do the things they LOVE.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
i would take them to see the City from Above at SkyView Atlanta, walk around town, take them to visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and stroll around the Atlanta Botanical Garden!
