We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We were in the early part of the pandemic and I really began to think about how short and unpredictable life is. If you have an idea, run with it. If you want to try something new, do the thing. Do ALL the things. Try the recipe, change your hair, start the company! Seriously, I’d been working on people’s resumes for quite some time, but why shouldn’t I have a website and a logo and actually own something? So, I created my logo, pulled together a website, and bought my domain. It’s those first few steps that are so small but such big hurdles.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The funny thing is I always wanted to be an artist when I was growing up. I just KNEW I was going to SCAD and all I wanted to do was design magazine layouts or work for some amazing advertising firm. All I did was draw all day and think about where I wanted to buy my chic loft. Life is kind of funny that way – you make a plan, it falls through, and then you somehow end up sort of where you planned or asking yourself, “how did I get here?!”
It definitely wasn’t easy for me to land where I am today. I was doing great in school and then I wasn’t. I changed majors a million times like everyone else (sometimes listening to people can delay you from being great) and sort of gave up going to class. It wasn’t interesting enough. I took some time off during undergrad and woke up one day and said, “I’ve got to get this done.” I finished school (eventually) and found myself sitting at a desk every day wasting away. So, like many people, I went back to school again, but this time with an end-game in sight… and then again. I’ve become slightly obsessed with leveling up my skills but I’m still a creator at heart. By starting Pitch, I sort of married the thing I used to love with something I realized I’m pretty good at. Then, boom – now I have a business. When you work with Pitch, not only do you get a resume that puts your best foot forward on paper, but looks fantastic too!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing about Atlanta is it’s always changing. My best friend is born and raised in Atlanta, but she’s more of a homebody than I am. If I could flashback to pre-pandemic, I’m absolutely dragging her to Loca Luna for some caipirinhas and tapas, then wrapping up the night (or morning, I should say) at El Bar. My shoes would end up filty and I’ve probably lost my debit card. That’s it. That’s the night… Damn, I really miss those nights with Speakerfoxx. If you know, you know. If not, you really missed out.
Yes, HR people have fun too!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom is the G.O.A.T. I got my drive, work ethic, and confidence from her. She’s the spokeswoman of “work hard, play harder” and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. I didn’t always know where I wanted to be and fell a few times along the journey, but she has consistently been there to provide the swift kick in the behind and motivation we all need from time to time.
