We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Miehl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The best advice I can give to gain success is to never stop learning. The aesthetics industry is constantly changing with new technology and concepts evolving all the time. We have to keep up with these changes to not only give our clients the best results possible, but to remain relevant. Our clients are more savvy than ever with skincare and treatment advice at their finger tips, whether that advice is correct or not!
Attending aesthetic conferences, listening to podcasts, watching webinars, and connecting with other providers on social media are just some of the resources I use to grow as a skincare professional. The aesthetics world is smaller than you think, so it would be advantageous for you to network with industry leaders. We can all learn from each other.
This is an exciting time to be a skincare professional, with challenges and many opportunities to grow. Knowledge is power, so use that knowledge to develop and improve your brand. The sky is the limit as to what you can do!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other skincare professionals is that I have a Nursing Degree and an Aesthetician License. This education works synergistically to give my clients an all-encompassing aesthetic experience. Whether they are coming to our practice for plastic surgery, injectables, MedSpa treatments, or guidance in creating a skincare routine, I am able to work with them start to finish.
This allows us to build trust with our clients, which is huge in our industry. Once you build trust with your client, the sky’s the limit as to what aesthetic services you can offer them. I love being a part of this transformative journey with them.
I am also very excited for some recent changes that we’ve made at Tailor Made Looks! We have brought on two incredible, clinically-proven skincare lines that are loved by so many of us: ZO Skin Health and Skinbetter Science. I am also thrilled to introduce Qwo to our clients! Qwo is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for moderate to severe cellulite. There is a lot of excitement about offering this new service, and it makes me feel so lucky to be in an industry that is constantly evolving!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love living in Atlanta where there is always something to do! I personally love to be outside so I would definitely start by walking through Piedmont Park, then onto the BeltLine to Ponce City Market. There you’ll find yummy restaurants (my favorite is Bellina Alimentari) and shops downstairs, and games and a restaurant called 9 Mile Station on the rooftop. Amazing brunch and views of the city! You can find other great food in that area further down the BeltLine at Krog Street Market. There are so many choices that would satisfy any palette! It is an added bonus that all of these places will have plenty of dog watching with many opportunities for petting.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give a lot of credit to the book, Atomic Habits, for guidance in creating and maintaining positive habits. I also have to acknowledge my good friend and coworker, Sierra, for supporting me and pushing me to be the best I can be personally and professionally.
