We had the good fortune of connecting with Emani Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emani, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my business is consistency, determination, and passion.

Consistency brings value through establishing trust, which leads to better customer service, greater customer satisfaction, and more confidence in attaining stability.

Determination pushes you to go above and beyond. It is what allows an entrepreneur like myself to dream of an impossible vision and make it a reality. Determination is also about respecting the fact that the ride will be rough, have many ups and downs and will likely have to change directions to meet your end goal.

Passion, its simple. I always say, “Do what you love and love what you do.” Having passion helps you set a solid foundation for your business and establish core values. Passion gives you the motivation and confidence that you need to deliver your mission and purpose for what you do and why you do it. It makes people believe in you and what you stand for!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Business is about people and I’ve always been good at people. What motivates them, what inspires them. Some people say “its luck”. Not quite, I’ve always found the harder I work, the more luck I have. That’s what sets me apart.

Some people say I was dealt my hand because of the success of my parents. To a certain extent. Yes, I was put in certain rooms with people, yes I was provided the finer things, but you better believe I am where I am today because of my drive, my passion for cooking, my hustle and determination to be great!
Nothing everlasting in this life comes easy. There are days where I don’t feel like it, there’s days where my creativeness is just not there, there’s days where I just want to stay in bed, there are also times where I feel overwhelmed and my anxiety kicks in but, never ever have I once stopped climbing.

Every day is a lesson; big or small. You take it and you figure out how you can make the next time better or what you could do different.

What I want the world to know about me is that I followed my heart, I’ve always believed in myself, I set standards and I live by them. I have faith in everything I do. I feed my spirit and I speak life into what I want to attract for myself and for my business. Faith without Works is Dead!!
“James 2. God has chosen the poor of this world who are rich in faith—Salvation is gained by keeping the whole law—Faith without works is dead.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, my friends and I love a good restaurant with great vibes. I’m from Chicago which is one of the top food cities in the U.S. so all we do is eat here! That being said we will try a different restaurant every day, have to put some shopping in the itinerary. I would make reservations at the Ancient Baths; get us a massage and just relax, I love me some live music so we would go listen to some music, and explore everything else Chicago has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, besides my parents of course. Chef Virgil Harper! Harper is my mentor that I met before moving to Atlanta when I was just 20 years old. I reached out to him in his Instagram DM’s asking could I intern with him if I moved down there for 3 months. He said yes and let’s just say a 3 month internship turned into 5 years working side by side. I can’t thank Virgil enough honestly and there is not enough roses in this world to give him. Yes, I went to culinary school, have 2 degrees but, he really taught me what it meant to be a “Great Chef” not to just throw some food on a plate but, how to put love into everything you do. Every plate that goes out should represent you!
