We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn/Draven Foreman/Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Autumn/Draven, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
One day we were on the phone – 7/20/2020 to be exact, and we were having a casual conversation. Draven was haring how he was tired of going through the motions of everyday life. He was overwhelmed with the sense of just wanting more out of life and he was ready to go after everything that God promised him. We always had these type of heart to hearts, so I too began to share what was laying heavy on my heart. I’d just been fired from a small technology company and was navigating being a self-employed personal trainer which I’ve been doing for the past six years. However, Draven and I ALWAYS knew we shared 2 of the same passions: the love for God and Fashion. If we’re not talking about a scripture, a church service, gospel song, or sermon, you can bet it’s about fashion. Then he said this to me, he said, “Autumn, bro I do not see myself being successful without you. “I was stunned, speechless, I was filled with thanks to have someone in my life that felt that way. And you know how some folks will say that you should never do business with family or loved ones? Well, that thought had NEVER crossed my mind. In fact, him saying that was the very confirmation we both needed from God to make something together that would not only change our lives, but the people around us as well.
That same day, we were on the phone for hours because designs just kept flowing through us. At that time Covid was at its peak, people were stuck indoors, and the murder of George Floyd was still being highlighted. We were so frustrated and in disbelief that these injustices were continuing to take place with no regard for the lives of black men. We were filled with emotion, we needed an outlet – these feeling led us to create what we knew best, fashion. We were tired of buying and wearing clothes that had no substance, no meaning behind the brand. That’s when we decided to create a brand of clothing with articles that “spoke back.”
That’s when the POP collection was born, the Power of the Past. POP is dedicated to some of the most influential African American activists that fought to pave the way for the black community today. Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X are the three we decided to highlight in this collection. In a nutshell, that is how Articles of Transparensee was birthed. With more information to come, please follow us on our IG: _transparensee. You can definitely look forward to our Fall 2022 drop.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We feel that what sets us apart from others is that our brand focuses on creating products that literally help not only us but other people navigate their way through this thing called life. We are most proud of how intentional, impactful, and inspirational these articles of clothing are. No, we do not believe creating any sort of business is ever easy as all business’s and all sectors of business come with their very own areas of adversity. We think the biggest challenge that we face is pushing forward although our “here” doesn’t look like our “there” or where we’re going. Something that we would like the world to know about articles of transparensee is that we are truth-setters not trendsetters.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest we have been so busy with building our brand that we haven’t been out much. There’s so much to do here in Atlanta here are a couples places to visit.

You can never go wrong with Ponce City Market or Chattahoochee The Works because they are each loaded with a fun ambiance filled with music, great drinks and a myriad of foods to eat.

If you want to do something different or interesting, you have to check out the High Museum which is where you can check out the Obama Portrait!

Last but not least, make sure you stop past Hillsong Atlanta Church on a Sunday morning where you can enjoy some phenomenal praise and worship and a word from Pastor Sam Collier.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are not walking this earth alone for a reason and that’s because we all need one another. I’d be lying if I said that Draven and I never had any help or support from others. Sharice Brown, owner and curator of Luxxscape body and skincare has been beyond supportive. Everyday we all send each other uplifting and motivating words to keep each other going and growing. Sharice is the next and upcoming face of all things skincare.
