Meet DLisia | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with DLisia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DLisia, how do you think about risk?
Sometimes we have to take risks in order to fulfill our goals and dreams. In August of 2021 I took a huge risk and left everything I knew to move to a whole new city to pursue my dreams of being a recording artist. It has honestly been one of the best things I have ever done. It has it ups and downs but in the long run I know it’s all going to be worth it. I have accomplished so much already and I look forward to continuing on this journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other R&B singers is my unique sound and the raw emotions that I express in my songs. Whether it’s pleasure, sadness, happiness, or fear, my audience can always relate as if they were there experiencing the emotions with me. I have an old school sound with a new school flow. I am also opera and classically trained, so I try to mix all of that into my sound. I am most proud of how far I have come in such little time, from exposure and performances, to even how I’ve grown through this journey. I moved to a brand-new city and stepped out of my comfortable zone, risking it all. I want to be an example to my generation that it’s okay to step out on faith and do what you love no matter what the norm is. I am extremely excited about music I will be dropping this year and possibly performances. I’ve been sing since I was 2 years old so I knew at a young age that eventually I would be where I am at today. I always tell people no matter how easy I might make it look it’s definitely not easy! You really have to have the mindset and be mentally and physical prepare because this industry isn’t for the weak. I just keep reminding myself that I don’t Just make music because I know how to but because this is my passion and my purpose. There’s always a storm right before the blessing. I l have learned and still learning that it’s okay to have some bad days but never let it stop you from what God has called you to do. What I want the world to know about me is that no matter what I have been through and no matter how many times it might have looked as if all of this wasn’t worth, I kept on going, stayed true to myself, and succeed. So, can you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to eat and have drinks in the city is Neyow’s. I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana so you know I need that good old creole food. It’s like home away from home. I like to take long walks so I go to the Lost Corner Preserve. It’s a woodlands and nature trails that like to visit to just walk and clear my mind. On Tuesdays nights I like to hang out at SmokeHouse Atlanta for R&B night. Its a great place to let loose with your girls while enjoying some great R&B music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout Cortez Bryant for believing in me, taking me under his wing, and supplying me with unlimited resources in order to pursue what I believe is my calling. It’s more than just business, it’s family.
Also, want to shoutout Shana Saunders for not only being an amazing manager but for being hands on with me and taking the time to actually develop me as an artist and never giving up on me. Shana pushes me to be greater everyday even outside of my artistry.
