Meet Timothy White | Tattoo Artist & Digital Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is necessary. Risks require courage, perception, ambition and overall the best of one’s self to accomplish. For the longest time, I was naive, especially regarding usage of my time. It wasn’t until my daughter was born and I made an everlasting bond as well as commitment with my wife; I was able to realize what true risk was. My once abundance of time had now been consumed. I couldn’t let my passion die so I found balance. I couldn’t let my family down so I kept working. I keep working. The bigger the risk the bigger the reward they say and I could agree more. If it’s worth it you’ll work for it, no matter the risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well as far as what sets me apart, I’d like to think that most individuals who truly are passionate and driven are quite similar. I can say that I’m excited for the continuation of the journey and what new chapters it brings. The future challenges wether in tattooing or as an artist in general. To be honest I struggle with anxiety and the fear of failure. These fears that have costed me time and growth in the past I try to now face head on.
Professionally I haven’t achieved all of my goals just yet but I can say hard work and humility has gotten me this far. The people in my support system have helped me to accomplish what I have so far as well. I believe that God has opened doors for me and instead of shying away I found what little courage I had to walk through them.
Up to this point I’ve learned how precious time is. I think it hit me most once I became a husband and father. Intentionality is very important and becoming stagnant or complacent can be threatening to one’s future.
I want people to connect with my art. I want for you to look at a piece of art I’ve created and find your own story within it. Of course I have a story behind most or many of my creations but everyone’s perception is different and I try to be mindful of that. With tattooing I want you to walk away with a piece of art that your proud to wear. I’ve seen a lot of healing through tattoos and pivotal moments in which brought the client peace or courage. That in itself has brought me more purpose through my art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well if they came in before noon, I’d start the day off in Inman park. I used to work at Barcelona Wine Bar and they have a mean brunch menu, the whiskey root cocktail is on point too. We would make our way to little five and check out some records. I’d show them Piedmont Park and maybe take a bike trip through the trails. Hopefully there would be a decent show at the Masquerade that night, I’m a big metal head and used to love going to their original location near Ponce. Since its through the weekend I’d have to take them to one of my favorite bars, The Local. I met my wife there and we along with a group of friends for years used to go there every Monday night for karaoke. I’d have to bring my friend by the tattoo shop. I work at Ink Paradise and they are like a second family so I’d have to introduce the team. I work so much now as a contract artist that my “outings” aren’t as adventurous as the once were. I enjoy the occasional thrift, so maybe a few goodwills or even Rag-o-rama. Depending on the weekend maybe an art festival in Grant Park or even Music Midtown. There’s so much to do in Atlanta and the options would be vast.
