We had the good fortune of connecting with Senam Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Senam, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
for me, it was seeing myself in rooms with people i find relevant to my endeavors. if you some how have the privilege’s to casually be in a room with people who have done some amazing work during their time. then give yourself the self validity of knowing youre in a good place. a place that might potentially excel your career or just something fun to tell your friends what you got to do and who you got to be around with

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I play guitar, I didn’t expect to take it this far but I’m very glad I did. Really finding your identity in music is very hard but can also seem very easy….”seem”. Really “growing your own mustache” for this shit is tough cause there so many nuances to account to when forming your own phrases/ideas for music and having sounds that are truly akin to you. Music/art is a perpetual learning journey and you will NEVER have an end point when it comes to learning and applying it to your musical voice/artistic endeavor. I don’t really have much to say on my brand or story cause I’m still trying to figure out some parts of it narrative, its taken me to some really interesting places thus far but there is absolutely more work to be done and it will get done…..eventually hahaha. BUT I truly hope you like what I have to say via music and hopefully it influences you too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
oh lol, I’m too reclusive for this question honestly lol, a lot of my time and “fun” is based around music events and such . So if you come to ATL for an event like that, then I’m absolutely your guy. This city has WAY too many good shows that come thru it and its really fucked up how much overlap there can be. I remember I went to go see Meshuggah one night but Kali Uchis was playing in a another part of town and Zeal and Ardor was at the Masquerade. so yeah, a lot of when my homies visit, its planned around events that are already happening and what not. But as a simple food option , I point towards shit like EAV or something like that OR Buford Highway Farmers market, that place is fucking insane!!!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
um, for sure. the guitarist in my band (Crispin Wah) Justin Tolan, has helped me with a technical foundation that i still use for playing music to this day, knowledge of your instrument goes the longest way possible. Christian Starr, one of my best friends back at home(Charleston) that i played a lot of shows with and had a genuine bond with, he introduced me to a lot of people and helped build my confidence (more than he knows) . Same goes for my friend Austin Power (yes, thats his name) he helped me by giving me a space and building that confidence on such an early forefront. also thank you Evan Tilson, Kyle King, Mike Busbee, Alec Edelson, PJ, Dean DuPont III….man, imma stop cause there are way too many people that helped give me a foundation but even if not named, believe that i am truly thinking of you.
