We had the good fortune of connecting with Takia Lamb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Takia, what do you want your legacy to be?
When I think about my legacy, I think about all the amazing things they said about my great grandmother at her funeral. There were so many things I learned about her 90 years of life in such a short period of time. but there was most certainly a theme. That theme was that she lived a life of purpose. It was full and generally — she did some good. I want my legacy to be just that. I want my legacy to be that I lived my life purposefully and created something that brought purpose to the lives of others.
What should our readers know about your business?
I run a design agency called, TK Consulting & Design, which was established in 2016. We are a full-service agency and provide business solutions for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Our services include brand development, web development, graphic design, social media marketing, business consulting, and photography. The goal has always been to create an agency where customer experience was just as important as creating aesthetically pleasing designs. “We design with you in mind” is our tagline. We build relationships with our clients to communicate their unique vision with our expertise in design. This has been our greatest success. We pride ourselves in building positive customer experiences that lead to referrals. Although this is something we love doing, it’s not always an easy task. Our typical client is someone who may not have the words to describe what they need but they have a great product or service that they want to share with the world. Our job is to listen, interpret, strategize and bring that vision to life. We haven’t always gotten it right. And in those times that we’ve gotten it wrong, we did everything in our power to make things right. Valuing our clients for us means that if our client can’t win– no one wins. We never want a client to leave the table feeling like they’ve lost something. This lesson has been challenging because it’s difficult to balance your company’s longevity v.s. client satisfaction. It’s important to create legal and structural protections for your company, but also remaining flexible to adjust for each specific situation is a must. This is how we’ve grown. Putting clients over everything. Along the way, we’ve learned to adjust and keep clients at our center, while learning how to do what we do better. What we want people to know about our brand is that our personal touch is authentic. We understand that tech can be intimidating but it doesn’t have to be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely LOVE Atlanta, a few of my favorite spots to eat would be Tin Lizzy’s, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Zama’s, Flying Biscuit, Atlanta Fish Market, and Jim’n’Nicks. As for places to hang out, I love Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market and Suntrust Park. Other places that you will want to visit would be Centennial Olympic Park and Georgia Aquarium, or anything related to Atlanta’s rich history with the civil rights movement.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have one of the most amazing tribes in the entire world– not kidding. My friends and family are so supportive, no matter what new and audacious thing I decide to take on at the time. If I can give a shout out to someone who has been pivotal in this season, it would be to my husband, Ro Lamb. No matter what I decide to do or how I decide to shift, he has been an amazing cheerleader and a great support. There is no way I could have grown my business without his willingness to adapt and cheer me on.
