We had the good fortune of connecting with D’ANDRÉ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi D’ANDRÉ, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks can be scary because the outcome isn’t guaranteed to be good. However, to me, that’s the best part. You never know how things are going to go. When I release music, I’m taking on a risk because I am incorporating different sounds and practically creating a new genre of music. If I don’t receive the best response from my fans, I learn from the experience and grow as an artist. Risk is growth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m originally from El Paso, Texas and both of my parents were in the military so we always moved around to different countries and states. Being that I moved a lot, I experienced music of different cultures which helped influence my sound. I started making music on an iPad when I was 10 years old. I originally aspired to be a producer so I always remixed songs and created my own beats. After some time, I realized I wanted vocals on my beats but I didn’t have anyone so I took upon myself to start singing over them. Over the next few years, I recorded demos and taught myself songwriting. At the age of 15, I produced and recorded my first full length album on my iPad under the name “Tymez”. After that, I continued to release singles but went on a hiatus to rebrand myself. In 2018, I came back into music professionally as “D’ANDRÉ”, my middle name. Since then, I’ve released 9 singles and 2 EP’s. I moved to Atlanta in 2020 for college and to pursue music as a career. During the move, I met my manager, who was originally my hair stylist. She coached me about the industry and prepped me into the artist I am today. My journey wasn’t easy. It took some time for me to adjust and work with a team because I had done everything alone for so long. However, it’s the best decision i’ve ever made. I’m touring, networking, and now we’re recording my self-titled debut album.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tiffany Jones, CEO of UTMG/LLC, my manager, is an amazing artist manager and businesswoman. She always ensures her artists are represented well, put out their best work, and provides guidance necessary to advance our careers.
