We had the good fortune of connecting with Gianni Orisawayi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gianni, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There are days where you’ll have simple things such as reposts/shares or even random messages from people giving you positive feedback about your product/business. These types of things, especially on your bad days, will remind you that you’re on the right path.
What should our readers know about your business?
In 2011, I decided that having my very own fragrance brand was my dream. I spent about 7 years doing research; reading, handcrafting the scents (quickly learned that process was too overwhelming for me), going to fragrance stores to see what’s out there, looking up manufacturers to help develop my products, etc. I released my brand back in 2018 in which I partnered with an international company but realized it cost me too much and was eating into my profits. I took some months off in 2020 to restrategize and rebrand (found domestic companies to work with) leading to me where I am today. Towards the end of last year, I inked a deal with a small boutique shop here in Atlanta (Basik Spaces) where some of my inventory is available for purchase. The lessons I’ve learned is to write down your goals, pray and manifest over them and just keep at it. Don’t overthink anything as it will only hinder you from succeeding. My brand is built upon uniqueness and that’s what I want the world to know OLURI as.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places to go to for good vibes are:
Loca Luna
Rock Steady
The James Room
Parkside Atl
Bar Vegan
Some good places I’d take for good food:
The above mentioned ones
Roc South
Breakfast at Barney’s
Toast on Lenox
Slutty Vegan
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to shoutout my mother. She is the sole reason why I fell in love with fragrances and started my own brand. Growing up, all she wanted for special occasions or holidays was perfume. Her collection and range was unparalleled. She purchased me my first bottle cologne when I was 10 and it was all up from there.
