We had the good fortune of connecting with Charjoi Pringle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charjoi, how do you think about risk?
When I think about taking risks, I think about every single decision that I make daily. Some researchers have said that individuals can make upwards of 35,000 decisions in one day. That is 35,000 possible risks. Over my lifetime, there are substantial moments that I could consider as risks: meeting new people hoping they’ll become my friend, tasting new foods hoping they’re not going to make me cringe, exploring new environments hoping that I won’t get too lost (although sometimes getting lost in new places offers the greatest adventures), going off to college in a completely different state from my family and hoping that I don’t fail at “Adulting”, or even taking a leap of faith to become an entrepreneur hoping that my purpose in the world aligns with the needs of clients. In my lifetime, I have managed over 357 million possible risks just from making daily decisions about my life and the direction that I want it to go. This may sound extremely intimidating, and although most times it is terrifying, when I think of risks and risk-taking, I find so much gratitude because I am the woman I am today because of those risks. One of the most profound factors to risk-taking has been my faith. Whether it’s having faith in a higher power or just simply having faith in myself, when my decisions don’t go as planned or when the fear of a risky decision creeps in, it’s the faith that I will figure it out or I will make the most out of the situation and be okay that helps me keep moving forward. It has been my blind faith that has empowered me to take risk after risk and to trust the process along the way. Most times, I have no clue what I am doing and that is risky in itself. However, trusting and being fully involved in the process leads to decisions that allow for so much growth and success.

What should our readers know about your business?
For the last decade, my adult life has been molded through my journey of facing challenges with perfectionism, trauma, codependency, anxiety, burnout, depression, Imposter Syndrome, and a variety of other everyday challenges. Throughout this time, I searched for an unrealistic destination of happiness and healing and couldn’t understand why life would have such a large effect on my mental health. In 2019, those challenges caught up to me and I experienced what is known as a “quarter-life crisis”, similar to what is more widely known as a “mid-life crisis”, I was experiencing depression, and my personal and professional life was imploding right in front of my eyes.

At the time, I did not have health insurance nor did I have the financial means to access therapy or clinical support, but I knew I had to do everything in my power to build better mental health and prioritize my wellness. After utilizing podcasts, books, YouTube videos, mindfulness practices, and the support from my tribe, I realized that the community and education I obtained anchored me to having a healthier mind, body, and soul. It was this realization that birthed my wellness brand, Joiful Healing, in 2020 during a major global pandemic, when the world’s mental health had to be prioritized overall. Joiful Healing was created as a solution to build and hold space for individuals and communities who are navigating life’s tough moments while also celebrating the triumphs of experiencing self-love and gratitude. Joiful Healing is here to normalize the process of experiencing the highs and lows of life and becoming better versions of ourselves along the way.

Joiful Healing offers community through social networks and the podcast, I Am Wellness, which can be downloaded on all podcast-streaming platforms and offers education through masterclasses and the newly published self-guided journal entitled, The Garden is Greener Within You. My mission is to continue to grow and support individuals with being more comfortable with expressing and loving themselves and honoring their wellness journey throughout their life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a transplant to Atlanta myself, I have gotten to know a lot of the city through research and locals however, I know there are a lot more of Atlanta’s hidden gems that I have yet to explore. Often when I am planning the perfect trip for family and friends who are visiting, I think about how Atlanta offers a variety of opportunities perfect for any personality. My itinerary definitely includes one or two beautiful waterfall hikes that are just north of the city. After the hike, we will have lunch at one of the many spots along Buford Highway; my favorites are a Dominican restaurant named, Sabor Dominicano, and my go-to taco spot called El Rey Del Taco. Throughout the week, we will take a tour through the MLK district, visiting the MLK, Jr. House, church, and museum. On a perfect day where the skies are clear and the temperature isn’t too hot or too cold, I love to take a stroll through Piedmont Park and then stop to have a picnic with takeout, wine, and a good playlist. This will obviously put us in the mood for ice cream and my go-to spot for the perfect cookies and cream ice cream is Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream Shop in the Highland Park neighborhood or Kilwin’s located in Atlantic Station. Again, there’s so much more to see and experience but in my experience so far, Atlanta offers it all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will always attribute my story to the group of family and friends that I call my “tribe”. This group is a collection of my parents, my brother, my sister-friends, my co-workers turned family, my partner, my mentors, my niece, nephews, and godson, and everyone else who has made such a significant impact on my life. When I think about my business, Joiful Healing, my tribe has been the stepping stone and the backbone to making this dream come true. It’s because of them that I even have the courage to step out and pursue entrepreneurship. Anytime I hit the wall of doubt, become overwhelmed with fear, or even when life has hit a little too hard, it is the individuals in this tribe that I can lean on for the perfect encouragement that I need to go on. I have no doubt that I am loved and supported. My relationship with every one of these individuals is beautiful, unique, genuine, and transcends this lifetime. I can do what I do each day knowing that I have my tribe besides me.
