We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhema Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhema, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that has contributed to my success is to never work for money again and to only work for purpose. I have a knowing that all of the abundance we desire whether in joy, money or peace, is in alignment with our purpose. Choosing to only work for my purpose has helped me to truly enjoy the work I do, attract abundance in many forms and bring joy to other people with ease.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a multi-disciplinary artist and spiritual guide, I create art that heals. I use the mediums of dance, singing and acting to create healing experiences for others through classes, workshops and performances. I’m really excited about sharing and learning more about the unique integration of performing arts, spirituality and healing. I attended performance arts schools since junior high and in seventh grade I was thrown in dance class by accident. I was supposed to be in choir. Divinely, I fell in love with dance! Dance helped me to express and transmute my emotions such as anger, which healed me. Into adulthood I started to remember my spiritual gifts and noticed how dance helped evolve these gifts. I also had a realization that during movement I was literally in another realm, which I found to be the spirit realm. This realization led me on a journey of understanding “how” dance & spirit connected and teaching others how to heal through movement. I draw from my cultural training in African dance where it is always integrated with intention, live music and movement. So, much of my movement has a cultural influence. I am where I am today through following my passions. Literally, only doing what brings me absolute joy and then disciplining myself to complete those minute tasks that helps me to achieve the bigger vision. It has been easy success because I enjoy my service and others benefit from it greatly. The hardest part is convincing myself that something so simple to me, can be so right. There is a paradigm that I had to shift of feeling like if I didn’t work hard at it, it held no value or would not be successful, when totally the opposite is true. The biggest factor in overcoming my obstacles is to just keep going and witness the proof of my own work. I had to make myself a believer of myself. I guess we can equate this challenge to self-doubt. Along the way I learned that dance is truly a healing art form, more exists than what the human eyes can see, you have to heal yourself before you can heal others and that everybody needs healing. I created a holistic wellness company called “The Love Domain” where we nurture women to wholeness through healing movement, nature-based healing modalities and love. Our mission is to heal, serve and entertain. We offer classes, workshops and ceremonies for healing of the mind, body and soul where movement is always at the core. Our movement can range from twerking to yoga; the intention and the curated space is what makes it healing. We intentionally focus on women because our goal is to change the world. I understand in depths from being a birthkeeper, that every being comes from the womb of a woman and the energetic influence that the mother has on the baby from conception. So, we believe when the woman is healed, the whole world will be changed from an elevated consciousness of love. We help women heal by empowering them to be their greatest selves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to my temple where I pray, commune and do much of my spiritual work. I would also take them to capoeira class with me to meet my community and to experience the healing martial art of capoeira. We would visit yellow river and bathe in the river, go to Cochran mills waterfall and Piedmont park. We would shop at Yeye’s Botanica for some spiritual goodies. Places we would eat would be Slutty Vegan, Tassili’s Raw Reality, Wadada’s, Soul Vegetarian, Whole Foods and my home. I love cooking healthy, nutritious and delicious food for my friends. We would probably google some fun and exciting places in the city that I have never experienced myself. I’m new to Atlanta and I LOVE adventure! We would also enjoy nightlife at Red Light Special Karaoke on a Thursday night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Mom. She has taught me through example what true support, encouragement, love, care and perseverance looks like. She is the reason I am able to focus much of my work on building healthy bonds between women, in which I call sisterhood. She is my first sister & friend and has never wavered in from her sincerest true self. My Dad also deserves credit for teaching directly and through example how to create a living for myself and to live life on my own terms. He is a huge influence on my entrepreneurship journey.
