We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaquese Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaquese, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Sports has always been my passion. After my collegiate career, I knew that I wanted to be around other athletes and the game but wasn’t sure what that would look like. My drive and dedication for sports has always been present but I also know my purpose in life is to help others reach their greatest potential. Starting my business as a digital sports reporter, I was blessed to work with some of the top elite high school players while building relationships with families and sports personnel. As I built my reputation as a field reporter, I suddenly gained interest in sports branding and marketing. At this moment, I knew I could offer more to the sports community. Gradually, I transitioned from being in front of the camera to behind the camera working with different brands and athletes. I truly believe that my expertise along with my energy can impact the sports community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a Sports PR Manager, I help athletes from all levels and businesses create, maintain and monitor their brand. I also extend my expertise with working with families that need assistance with high school recruiting. What I’m most proud of is seeing athletes grow and reach their greatest potential on and off the playing field. The road has not been easy but I rely on my faith and immediate family to help me get through the rough times. For anyone that is pursuing a dream or passion, I would definitely say to believe in yourself and don’t look for validation from others. Anything is possible if you believe and work hard.

While in high school, I wasn’t heavily recruited but I received the female athlete of the year award my senior year. Many doubted my talent and didn’t believe that I would go far in life, period. This underdog mentality that I have has given me that confidence and determination to work hard and achieve my goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to town, I would most definitely take them to the Mercedes Benz Stadium for an athletic event then take them to the Avalon or Peachtree Corners to grab some good food and drinks. Before they leave, I would make sure to take them downtown to get a glimpse of the city life and visit all of the historic sites here in Atlanta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family is a big part of my success. My parents, Tommy and Barbara Smith. My siblings Shay and Ajee Smith, my grandparents and extended family and friends. They have all played a part in my success and I can’t thank them enough for all of the encouragement and support.
