Meet Aaron Horton | Creative Art Solutions Owner, Designer, and Fabricator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Horton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started this business entirely by accident. Story Time! Back in September 2020, i had a close friend whose birthday was coming up and I couldn’t figure out what to get him. That close friend is a celebrity fashion designer and pretty much has and can get anything He wanted (“in my mind”) and I wanted to buy something meaningful but also on a budget. Since I’ve been to his design studio a few times, I’ve always noticed how large it was with its high ceiling, painted white walls, and plenty of space for photos, artwork, and memorabilia. From that memory i decided to make a larger than life sized piece of wall art that would be a spilt image of his brand logo. This piece of art would be 4ft tall x 4ft wide, hand cut from wood, and painted to match his logo so he could in turn be able to put it in his studio. Once i presented him with the finished product, he was amazed and thankful but then wanted to take it a step further and asked for lights to be installed behind it for a glow effect. Now, I’m a mechanical engineer by degree but electrical stuff is not my forte and I didn’t know how to do anything of that nature but my ego said “yeah no problem”. After a couple hours of research (Youtubeing it) the 2.0 version of the art piece was completed. Once we posted the Art Piece installed in his studio on our social media pages, my DM’s started filling in from random people who wanted their own piece of wall art made by me. From that moment Creative Art Solutions was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When i started this business i wanted to be different than most sign and art companies by making my work pieces 3-Dimensional. I wanted to have some depth to my art work to make them look more alive and different. My following really grew because I’m able to take logos from business that have faces, glitter, calligraphy, etc and turn those in to 3D Signs for their Pop Up shops, brick and mortar locations, and podcast studios. I’m proud and excited about every piece I do whether big or small. I’m also super humble and thankful customers trust me with being the one to bring their logo to life. I will say though that this business didn’t start out easy or with the big following i have now. I started my first few months cutting all my signs by hand and which was time consuming and messy, which led me to invest in computerized machines to do the cutting for me. I also tried to make outdoor building signs for businesses and that didn’t work out either. I then realized i needed to focus on what I’m good at which was the 3D interior wall art. I want to the world to know that here at Creative Art Solutions we put Quality over Quantity. I’m not looking to make the most money or the most signs i can in a week by rushing out orders but i want to make sure i take my time and treat every customer, wall art or sign as if its going in my own home or business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely check out Putt Shack in Midtown (Atlanta) if you’re looking for something different whether its couples night or just hanging with friends. I love cars and going fast so Andretti’s is another great place to check out as well. If you are looking for good food and atmosphere, Divan in Buckhead is great restaurant to try for a variety of foods or Fogo De Chao if you are a big meat lover.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t do this interview with out shouting out my Wife and Kids. It has been a huge adjustment and lifestyle change for us. I have taken over the garage where we used to park our cars and turned it into a manufacturing facility with cutting machines and a painting area, the dining room and spare bedroom are now full of customer orders, supplies, and machines as well. So I’m very thankful they are allowing me to take on this new endeavor and intrude in their personal space. I also have to shout out the Wolf Pack, Nights vs Lights (They know who they are.lol), and my Neighbors/Friends for their continuous support and feedback. These individuals give most of my work pieces a once over before I post them for the public to see on social media. Last but not least I have to specifically call out these individuals (Alexander John, Spivey, Demetrius (DJ), Kevin & Trish, Ray, Gbolahan (Bo), Corey, Keenyn, Roderick, Jay, and Staphia), as they were the First ones to order from me when i was only a few weeks in the game cutting signs by hand, testing out new techniques and machines, these select few trusted me to do what I do. As always thanks to everyone who has ever supported me in any kind of way as i would not be where I am today with out you.
