We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, so starting my own company was always a part of my career plan. Also, as a mother juggling and balancing work/family life, having the flexibility to work remotely, control over the type of clients I work with and the freedom to create the culture I wanted for my company, were all important factors that led me to start my own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

K Williams Public Relations, is a boutique PR agency with over 10+ years of PR experience. We specialize in entertainment, media relations, publicity campaigns, branding strategies, red carpet escorting, media placement and much more! The type of clients we work with range from actors, singers and dancers to producers, directors, athletes and non-profit organizations.
One of the things that sets us apart from others is, we tailor our approach to specifically meet the needs of our clients, with the goal of creating visibility and enhancing our clients individual brand identity. We are also committed to being hands on and having personal relationships with all our clients and the media.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Due to my friends and I having families/careers with demanding schedules, when we are able to carve out some downtime to get together, participating in activities that are both relaxing and enjoyable, is usually right up our alley! So when my friends come to visit me and I want to show them a great, yet relaxing time, I would most likely suggest we dine at one of my favorite seafood restaurants, Pappadeaux for some great food, drinks and conversation. Followed by a little retail therapy, a good movie at a theater with luxurious seating; then closing our day/week out at JeJu Spa, for massages and other relaxing spa services.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Aside from my loving family, who have always encouraged and been supportive of me and my goals and aspirations; I would also like to shout out my good friend, Wendy Berry…another female boss making an impact in the world. Even with her busy schedule, she still finds time to offer advice, resources and send client referrals my way, in a genuine effort to uplift and support me in my career endeavors, which I am truly grateful for.
