Meet LaToya Drish | Press On Nail Artist, Skincare and Cosmetics Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaToya Drish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaToya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
A few years ago, I was fighting depression. So I had did some research and one thing that stood out to me was to do things that felt impossible to do. I started just doing things in the house, like putting lipstick on while my hair was standing up on my head. I would put press on nail’s to cook dinner. It my sound silly, but it was whatever to make me feel beautiful and find the self-love for myself again. Then, in 2019 I was at a job where I seen women literally defeated, because they didn’t look a certain way and that was devastating, but I remembered that same type of woman I remembered that woman who struggled with self-acceptance. So one night I sat and thought, what I could do to help women struggling with self-confidence. What could I do to help women struggling with self-acceptance and self-love? That’s when i remembered what helped me battle my depression. I remembered the lipstick. I remembered me fighting with my thin press on’s from the dollar store. I remembered my girls and I having ‘spa days.’ I evaluated what I could do, what I could make better, Then I turned it to Simplicity by L. Drish.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Simplicity is for the everyday woman, the working woman, the seasoned woman, the teenager, and the toddlers, too! Simplicity was founded with the hope and dream of making sure that we feel good and look good too. Whether it’s the body butter used to help you relax, the lip therapy kit to help rehydrate your lips, or our simplicity nail sets, so you don’t have bare nails, I want to empower you! I want you to feel good. I want you to know you are no alone.
I got here by learning my field. And, no, it was not easy. Still isn’t. But I don’t mind the hard work. I overcome alot of my challenges by praying, mediating, and research. Research is VERY important and needed in everything you do. The world is steadily changing and new trends are starting every other day, feels like. You have to be willing to accept failures and take them as lessons. You can’t give up and invest in your business! And take risk, but make sure they are calculated!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m in Alabama, so that Thursday, we would stop by Westend Food Truck Park, because who doesn’t love food? Then that Friday, we’d go to Six Flags Georgia for food though only. Then Saturday go to Big Dave’s for an philly cheesesteak eggrolls, maybe a hookah bar, then rest on Sunday. I don’t go out much as you can see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My spouse and kids. They see me at my worst and still think i’m amazingly great! They inspire me to work hard and to keep going, even when I feel the walls around me closing in. They are my oxygen and my peace.
