Meet Shawnte Easley | Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawnte Easley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shawnte, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I fell in love with hair extensions about 10 years ago. Around year two I found myself spending a lot of time bouncing around from website to website to compare and review prices and qualities from different companies. It was at that time the idea came to me that it would be much more convenient to input exactly what type of hair I was looking for, and then choose from the companies that had exactly what I was looking for and that’s how the concept of Xtension Engine was born.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The concept of online market places is not anything new, however given our singular focus on extensions is what sets us apart from other major market places like Amazon and AliExpress.
We also want each company on our platform to know that their branding isn’t being outshined by Xtension Engine but we are enhancing it. Most products on Amazon loose their brand identity unless they were well know as an individual company.
I’ve made some costly mistakes along the way but none of them kept me from where we are today or where we’re going. Previously I was paying for a very expensive marketplace builder that didn’t provide all the necessary features that I needed. I challenged myself to learn how to build a marketplace from scratch using word press which saved me hundreds of dollars a month. I never thought I’d be able to build something like this and I feel so proud of myself every time I open the site.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is if you have more time than money you can learn anything! It’s amazing to see how much we’ve improved from when the site was first created 2 years ago.
Xtension Engine is a resource for consumers who love to reinvent themselves through their hair.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still getting to know the Dallas area, however Uptown and Frisco are very nice areas with great food and music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Because this concept for hair extensions hasn’t been done before, it’s been challenging to get people to see my vision. However, I am blessed to have come across a few individuals that saw my vision for Xtension Engine while in its earliest stages.
* Monique Bryant from The Raven Women branding agency.
* Shelby Horne from The Kreadivs Agency.
* Kenshell Burnett for always supporting our social media presence.
