We had the good fortune of connecting with 404 Jayyy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 404, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For me, it was about being able to call something my own. I started making music at about 16 or 17 and at first I started doing it for fun, but when I got good at it I got the idea that I could go far with it and I took the leap and now I’m chasing my dream.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others who make music is my ability to express all my emotions in my music, whether I’m going through a breakup or if I’m in a good mood and chilling with friends I can express all that through my music, I can honestly say I have a song for every emotion.

As far as challenges I had to overcome, the main one was doubting myself. I have a tendency to overthink a lot of what I do which can be good when making music but it can mess with you too.

Lessons I learned along the way, keep your moves silent until you make them.

When it comes to the brand, I’m working with a few of my friends we’re all in a collective called BroDays, aside from our solo music, we’re working and putting together a group mixtape to showcase our talent and to entertain the people. We want to be a brand that people can’t escape ( in a good way) we want to takeover all avenues in entertainment and we’re gonna make that happen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Damn, that’s a good question. I honestly don’t know where I’d take em it’s a lot different spots in the city to go to. Me personally, I like going chilling in the crib, it’s a lot going on in city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my mother for putting that business/entrepreneur mindset in me at a early age. I want to also dedicate my friends and family who encouraged me to keep going at times I felt like I wasn’t making my best music.
