We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My wife and I started Pulsar Media LLC to serve as home base for our original content, and to serve the communities on the south-side of Atlanta. I’m from Henry County, so providing a stellar multimedia experience on this side of the map means a lot to me. Second, we are both entrepreneurs and strive to assist other potential entrepreneurs in pursuit of their dreams. We love building connections with so many young people taking that leap of faith into the unknown to better themselves and their families. Lastly, iron sharpens iron! We believe that everyone has a story and god given gifts! In my opinion, running a studio is the second best thing next to Youtube University. I learn best by doing and watching firsthand. When someone new comes to the studio to have a commercial filmed, do a photoshoot, or produce a podcast it’s an excellent opportunity to see how we can mutually help each other. Once the connection is made, that experience is logged in my mental rolodex, and from there I can call upon that person in the future, or refer them someone else who may require their services. Pulsar Media is going global, and none of that will be possible without the grassroots connections originated right here in Stockbridge, Georgia.

What should our readers know about your business?
Pulsar Media Studio is an intimate photo, video, and podcast studio offering services for podcasts, self tapes, photoshoots, social media content, voice-overs, and video editing. We also offer event hosting and will also be offering some other cool features I can’t fully disclose at this time. What sets us apart is our desire to empower and educate through genuine connections formed at our studio. Being a grinder naturally attracts a like minded audience, and like I mentioned previously, iron sharpens iron. For example, lets say you’re an artist that comes to our studio for a photoshoot. Following the shoot we will exchange likes for likes on instagram. From there I can chop up footage from our encounter and blast it out across various social media platforms. Extending even further I can attend a show, buy merch, and continue to check in on your movement and support it. Genuine support isn’t a one time thing–it’s an ongoing contribution. I’m a firm believer in that, and I’ll make sure any patron of Pulsar Media feels the love reciprocated. As far as adversity, I’ve definitely seen my fair share of some just as your readers have I’m sure. We’re in uncharted territory opening our own studio so it requires me to wear many hats. Nothing comes easy, but determination will get you through it. Just getting the chance to run your own business is exciting despite any mistake you could make and I’ll never take it for granted. When the load gets heavy I remember I prayed for this.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
At 37, I’ve transitioned into an even more low key, chill vibe type of guy. I find a bonfire with a select group of friends wayyyy more entertaining than the club. House gatherings with great music, pop up art shows, food trucks, bars for the hawks game….this is my type of scene. Also, everything I need is at the house. I’m a gamer too, so when I’m at home folks can get these hands on my Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Switch, or my PS4 with some Nipsey Hussle blasting over the speakers, and steaks on the grill. I also love supporting Indie artists; so wherever there is an artist showcase I may pop my head in there. The most exciting people to me in Atlanta are its creatives and its chefs. We have so many great street artists, musicians, and restaurants in Atlanta on all levels. And the music here….well, we are the culture. I moved here in 95, and the dungeon family changed my life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank the ALMIGHTY creator upstairs for gifting me with two great parents and a brother that have always supported my dreams and passions, despite all of the uncertainty. None of this would be possible without my beautiful wife who is my partner in crime when it comes to everything film and audio related. Shout-out to my lil homie Dre with Camousoul productions out in California. I’d also thank to thank my previous mentor Michael “Ice-Blue” Harris, and former partner Christopher “Black-Ice” Bell. A special thank you also goes to Timothy “Cutty” Sanders, Hip-Hop Wired.com and Bossip for giving me internships way back in the day. I’d also like to thank all of the people that have been coming to Pulsar Media Studios and rocking with me so far especially Caleb Gizzell, Tay Rose Productions, Ukari of Ukari Shoots Photography, Mckee, Jalen, Elijah Cozart, Omar Brown, Dominique Kight of Finding The Blend Podcast, Anna D of More To Life Podcast, and the up and coming comedian Furg with his podcast coming soon! Sorry for being so wordy, but If there is anyone else I missed you know it’s all love!
