We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridgette Whitting and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bridgette, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Some habits I’ve felt helped me succeed was to continue pushing through all the obstacles that come up when you own a business from low sales, no traction even figuring out financing. If you have a dream or a great product and believe it’s going to be great or that people really need it they’ll buy into that dream. So keep pushing no matter what.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Natural, Toxin-Free, Cruelty Free Skincare, Body Care & Soy Candle Company. All of our products are handmade in small batches to ensure you receive quality products. It is a black woman, veteran owned company that started out after I realized the products we were using had so many unrecognizable ingredients and I didn’t want to continue to put that on my family’s bodies. What sets us apart from others is the fact that we use natural ingredients to heal dry skin, eczema, Oily skin and more. Some lessons I’ve learned so far are that they’ll always be someone who will sell what you sell but that person isn’t you so keep doing you. One accomplishment I’m proud of is being able to see my products on Amazon selling. So many people are able to have access to products that I’ve made is indescribable.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start the day with some green juice from a juice bar and then have a picnic in piedmont park. Ride the scooters until night. Head over to the roof at ponce city market. I’d bug her to try out some vegan food until she tried it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to shout out my husband, my mom and friends for telling me to continue my business after we suffered losing outlr daughter. It definitely was hard but to push through and allow my family and friends to see me continue to push is awesome. So I say, Thank you.
