We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I learned very early on that anything worth doing would take risk. The question has always been will I allow the presence of risk to keep me from doing, saying, believing, building, launching etc. or will I do it in spite of the risk. I’ve decided that I would rather do it scared then to not do it at all and never know if it could have worked. Only people who are able to take risks get to see the potential fruit of their faith. I’m living by risky faith.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a therapeutic coach and teacher. (LMSW, MDiv). As a therapeutic coach I combine my clinical skills as a licensed therapist with coaching skills. My clinical skills equip me to handle your past while my coaching skips equip me to push you into the future strategically. In particular, I help women in media, ministry and the marketplace to become more effective by assisting them to unpack the trauma of their past in my program called Soul Care. Trauma broadly defined is any experience or relationship that distorts your ability to see yourself, others and God through a clear lens. When we don’t do the work to heal from these experiences we put our businesses, ministries and families in danger of not growing and thriving the way that they can. As a teacher, I have developed a curriculum called ROOTS. ROOTS is a five week e-course that destroys rejection, shame and abandonment using not only clinical skills (CBT, Exposure, ACT) but biblical principles. This course is designed to facilitate healing in the lives men and women that are looking for a different therapeutic setting other than traditional counseling.
Getting to this point in my business required me to first to do the work that I help many others do today. I spent years investing in self development whether through classes, mentorship or counseling. And the work continues. I believe wholeheartedly that in order to be authentically me it needs not just school experience but life as well. It is not easy to constantly confront myself but it has been worth every tear and uncomfortable moment. I’m determined to assist as many other men and women for the rest of my life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is one of my favorite cities hands down. If I had to give a must to-do list of places to attend it would first include Atlantic Station. For obvious reason but who doesn’t love outdoor shopping on a warm day with the perfect breeze. You can not only get shopping done, but grab a bite to eat and sit outside and people watch. My favorite breakfast spot is flying biscuit, its traditional items jazzed up a bit. And then a great dinner spot would have to be Southern ATL.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am not sure where I would be without the support and sacrifice of my parents throughout the years. Their sacrifice has created more opportunities that I can remember. My pastors and mentors have also provided additional wisdom and support that has cultivated the gifts and talents on the inside of me.
