We had the good fortune of connecting with Jirani Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jirani, why did you pursue a creative career?
One day I was searching instagram and I inquired about some necklaces handmade on instagram however I thought the price was a little too expensive. Being that I’m good with my hands, I decided to make my own, over time I improved and now ironically I charge similar pricing 😂

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Initially I was challenged with simple copper wrapping techniques, over time I started to learn the wire and what specific gauge to use for each stone. It’s been an in going process but i overcome it by repetition, each time my wraps come out better than the last. I have learned that it takes critical thinking and patience to complete each piece. Anyone can can start a business it just takes time, effort, and consistency.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here in Charlotte there’s a wide range of activities and food spots. I like to eat so I’d recommend bean vegan cuisine, chicken bucket, etc there’s a diverse population in Charlotte so good possibilities are endless. I also would check out the mountains in the area, there are some dope trails and views at both south mountain and crowders mountain.

Renowned gemstones on instagram and rich soil. The owners are really helpful in suggesting stones I can use for my business, we actually assist each other and I believe this is why we do so well.
