Hi Chereese, what inspires you?
Helping others is contagious and inspirational, positively flowing from person to person in both action and spirit, . Sometimes, putting my clients’ needs first gives me a sense of belonging and boosts my self-esteem. The most rewarding sentiment is when I can witness a person’s demeanor change from a state of overwhelming stress to clarity and relief. Being able to equip someone with the confidence and understanding to take control of their tax situation and get their life back spurs emotions I have yet to describe.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our tax system is involved, and with over 4000 revisions over the last ten years, taxpayers and the IRS are struggling with the complexity of the tax code. Dependable and Creditable Taxes, INC. was created to help taxpayers address and resolve problems with the IRS, protect their rights, and ease their tax burdens.

The most significant issues taxpayers are dealing with today are understanding the ever-changing tax codes, identity theft, and long delays in processing returns.

That’s why ten years ago, I decided to start DC Taxes. We offer year-round tax services to individuals, families, and small business owners nationwide. In addition to excellent customer relations and proactive tax efficiency planning, DC Taxes can also serve as an IRS Representative. Consistent active listening, empathy, and understanding ensures you will never have to face the IRS alone.

I started doing my taxes back in the 90s when you had to get the forms from the library or post office. After working one ungratifying season for a small tax preparation company, I decided to take it to the next level and open a tax service business. Our headquarters is in Birmingham, Alabama. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love Downtown Avondale. In addition to the numerous festivals, they also have great places to eat, drink, and shop. After walking The ‘Dale Ale Trail, a mile path of breweries thru the heart of Avondale, I find my way to Avondale Common House and start with some fried green tomatoes. I always order the fried chicken served with grits and collard greens. DEE-LISH! Avondale is amazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In addition to being a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, I am a full-time student pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management. I have many irons in the fire, and I am thankful for my incredible support system.

Benjamin, my sexy, amazing husband, provides a safe, loving, and peaceful environment where I can study and take care of business.

Lynice, my firstborn, has a Master’s degree in Nutrition and provides valuable college resources, insight, and motivation. She understands many of my challenges and always has a solution.

My teenager and classmate, Hylia (who’s not allowed to call me ‘Ma’ on campus), provides the camaraderie of campus parties as well as community service projects. She’s the Kim to my Nikki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Parkers

Last but not least, I have a tremendous appreciation for my friend, Kenyetta Jackson, owner of Preferred Dental Services. Ken & I are both dental hygienists and met on social media. We recently invested in a local anesthesia course to expand our skill sets, and Ken’s support was priceless. In addition to passing the class, Ken’s compassion, practical knowledge, and valuable feedback were beneficial in managing our anxiety and stress levels.
