We had the good fortune of connecting with Aina Brei’Yon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aina, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The music industry is a very surface level, superficial industry. Your community does not support you until mainstream supports you. Keeping this is mind, it’s no surprise that only the strong minded and highly dedicated creatives achieve success. The most challenging decision one must make when they first jump into this industry is do you be true to yourself or do you follow the current trends. Such a decision can have major impact on one’s mental health. Especially if you do not have genuine people around you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m well known for my excuse-free, self-rewarding work ethic. As the founder, and CEO of 3K9 Productions I am mastering the art of maintaining a successful career as an Award-Winning Music Producer, Independent Artist, Actress, Author and Entrepreneur. As a native of the Southside (Roseland area) of Chicago, I personify strength. Since my conception, I have made it clear that boundaries do not apply to me. Early in my career, I understood the importance of being true to who I am.  My reality is defined by my beliefs; a message that transcends through my music and creative endeavors. As the second to youngest of 10 children, self-expression and showing any type of emotion was simply non-existent in my family. I found an outlet with music at the young age of nine. Writing was the only way I knew how to express myself.

As a creator of experiences, my ability to use my music and visuals to tell my stories presented me with several opportunities to open up for acts such as J.Holiday, Talib Kweli, Soulja Boy, Keith Murray, Crucial Conflict, Sammie, and B2K. As I continued to nurture these talents, I found myself sharing the stage with big names such Miguel, HER, Rapsody and a plethora of headliners, opening shows such as One Music Festival and headlining stages during A3C, SXSW and Long Beach Pride. I am proud to say that my audience consists of multi-generational like-minded male and female individuals who find themselves embracing my energy. My continued focus on sharing my talents with the world has allowed me to speak on panels hosted by TuneCore, Google and entertainment focused brands. In 2019 I represented the AT&T Dream in Black campaign during the REVOLT Hip Hop Summit. Most recently I partnered with Walt Disney TV cable subsidiary FreeForm and Facebook Groups to bring awareness to the LGBTQ community.I am a creator. I do not rap. I do not sing. I create and raise vibrations. When the world sees you one way, they believe that is the only way you should be. I cannot be boxed in. God did not put my gift in a box with a little bow on it. When I create, I create from whatever I am feeling at that moment. No rules. No limitations. No image to protect. That is the only true form of freedom… The freedom to stand in your truth.

My talents go beyond my music. 3K9 Productions provides song writing, music production, mixing and mastering, videography, photography, and branding services to anyone that is looking to take their brand to the next level. The launch of this all-woman production company is just one of many endeavors that I have seen through within the last five years.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a weeklong trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.I am a huge fan of Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and Top Golf. When I am in Atlanta, I enjoy the music festivals such as One Music Fest and A3C Festival and Conference.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Management and Publicist Team, Loyalty Enterprise. My Attorney, Marissa Crespo, and my true supporters. Let’s not forget my ancestors who continue to watch over me day after day.
